Mataram, Indonesia, Universitas Islam Al-Azhar (Unizar) Mataram was visited by the Rector of Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Waluyo Adi Siswanto and the Head of Programme PhD in Islamic Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sohirin M. Solihin on last Thursday, October 20th and welcomed with Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both campuses.
Rector of UMAM introduced research-based PhD programmes; (1) PhD in Information Technology, (2) PhD in Education, (3) PhD in Social Science, (4) PhD in Islamic Studies, and (5) PhD in Business and Management, and also promotion of co-promotor / co-supervisor programme to Unizar.

“Welcome to Unizar for Rector of UMAM and the team. We greeted this silaturahmi with greatness, moreover it is said that silaturahmi can extend life and expand sustenance,” delighted Rector of Unizar, Dr. Ir. Muh. Ansyar, MP who welcomed UMAM at GA8 Gedung Rektorat Unizar.
The MoU is to extend more research collaboration between the two parties, exchange programs, publications and joint PhD programmes. The silaturahmi between them will be continued by their lecturers who will join PhD at UMAM.

UMAM gained relations with Unizar, while at the same time participated in the 21st Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) edu-expo.
The expedition from Malaysia to Lombok Island in Indonesia turned into a worthy effort as the university was able to introduce themselves to the participants and delegates of AICIS as well as Unizar at one of the most attractive islands in Indonesia.
