Registration Information
Information to familiarize you with your registration process, important terminology and significant deadline dates, and how it all affects you is included here.
Registration steps:
Obtain Visa Approval Letter
International students:
All international students are required to apply student visa. The visa application should be made in your home country. You are not allowed to go to Malaysia and start your study without a student visa.
- Create an account. As a new user, you have to register to the Education Malaysia Global Services. Make sure you create a new account.
- Fill out application form. You may use the created account to fill out the application form. You need to upload the following documents:
- Passport photo
We recommend that you use a professional photographer service to take the photo. They can provide you with a passport photo in the correct format. You can use the online photo checker to make sure that the photo is acceptable to EMGS. - Offer Letter
This is the acceptance from UMAM to proof that you have been accepted to study in a specific programme. - Passport
Your passport should not be expired less than one year. You are requested to scan the passport showing the identification information pages. - Academic qualifications
The scanned files of your last academic qualifications and transcripts, including the translation from the sworn translator. You may include also the accreditation certificate of the university issuing your last qualification. - Health declaration form
You need to download the health declaration form (pre-arrival) and fill it out accordingly.
- Passport photo
- Pay EMGS. Once your application form has been completed and verification has been done. You will be directed to pay the application fees. You can estimate the total fees using the online calculator for application fees. For Indonesia, for example, with minimum health insurance and the I-Kad courier to UMAM, the application fees will be MYR 2,072.60.
- Application process. What you need is just waiting, you may trace the status of the application.
- Obtain approval. Your Electronic Visa Approval Letter (e-VAL) will be issued if the process has been fully completed. The e-VAL can be downloaded from your EMGS account dashboard.
Malaysia Students:
Student visa is not applicable.
Malaysian students having a proper Identification Card (IC) may proceed to step 3.
Collect Electronic Single Entry Visa (e-SEV)
International students:
Collecting Electronic Single Entry Visa (e-SEV) is now available online.
Register an account on https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/evisa/evisa.jsp from your home country, (website cannot be access within Malaysia)
When you are register, make sure your email is correct and active. All notification will be send to your email address only.
You have to upload your electronic Visa Approval Letter (e-VAL) from EMGS and the information page of your passport
- Visa issuing process.
You are require to pay the processing fee as much as MYR 120 by using a credit card / debit card. You have to wait after the payment for several days to get notification regarding your application of e-SEV. - Collect your electronic Single Entry Visa (SEV).
Once your application has been approved you will be notify that your e-SEV is ready to download. You have to printout your e-SEV and your e-VAL, this documents should be presented to immigration when you enter Malaysia
Malaysia Students:
Student visa is not applicable. Please go to step 3.
Payment UMAM Invoice
International students:
Before you go to Malaysia, make sure you have paid the first semester tuition fees and other additional fees as indicated in the billing invoice you have received. Your billing invoice can be found in your admission user dashboard.

Malaysia Students:

Registration Week
New student registrations are scheduled twice in 2023.
First academic session (March – August)
Registration Week:
20 February 2023 – 25 February 2023
Second academic session (September – February)
Registration Week:
4 September 2023 – 8 September 2023
International students:
Once you have received your Single Entry Visa (SEV) and pay the tuition fees (step 3). Please go to UMAM campus for enrolling as a new student.
If you receive your SEV late so you enable to register on time during the registration week, you do not need to worry. You can still register within one month late registration. If you think you will be late more than one month, we suggest you to register to the next academic session. Your commencing study and the payment will be counted starting at the next semester.
You will be directed by the registration officer to do medical health check-up to one of listed clinic or any government hospitals or clinics. You are requested to use this form Medical check up form and please read the Instruction for your medical examination.
Malaysia Students:
Once you have transferred the first semester tuition fees, please go to UMAM campus for enrolling as a new student. If you are unable to register during the registration week, you can register within one month late registration. If you think you will be late more than one month, we suggest you to register to the next academic session. Your commencing study and the payment will be counted starting at the next semester.

Activity during the registration week:
- New enrolled students will receive their student cards.
- International students will receive I-Kad from immigration.
- Research students may propose co-supervisors by providing the CV of the candidates.
- All students are directed to do health examinations to the listed clinics.
- All international students will be arranged or assisted in finding student housing.
Orientation Week
New student orientation weeks are scheduled twice in 2023.
First academic session (March – August)
Orientation Week:
27 February 2023 – 3 March 2023
Second academic session (September – February)
Orientation Week:
1 September 2023 – 15 September 2023
Activities during the orientation week:
All new enrolled students will have some activities
- Getting familiar with UMAM campus comprehensively
- Understanding academic and student’s regulations,
- Improving motivation and focusing on the study through religious activities,
- Engaging students in activities that help them get to know each other. These activities also provide ways to practice active listening, expressing feelings, and cooperation. Excursion to attractive spots in Perlis is also involved.
