Palu, Central Sulawesi: Rector of Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), Associate Prof. Ir. Dr. Waluyo Adi Siswanto emphasized that the presence of UMAM can improve the human resources of universities in Indonesia. This was said when he attended the workshop on ‘Journal Management Standards Towards Accreditation’ which was held at the Rectorate Building of the University of Muhammadiyah Palu (Unismuh Palu) on Tuesday, 20/9/2022.
The Rector of Unismuh Palu, Prof. Dr. H. Rajindra, S.E., M.M. argued that it is not enough to only develop journals, but human resources must also be developed through research. This is also supported by the XVI Regional Higher Education Service Institute (LLDIKTI16), where representatives from the association, Mrs. Yusna informed that conducting and publishing research in national or international journals is one of the requirements of higher education.
Rector of UMAM further explained that UMAM offers a number of doctoral study programs by research, namely PhD in Social Sciences, PhD in Education, PhD in Islamic Studies, PhD in Business and Management, and PhD in Information Technology. “If you pursue your PhD at UMAM, it is no longer difficult because the doctoral system there is by research,”
He also guarantees that the publications of lecturers and students at UMAM will be beneficial for their home universities. He understands that if a lecturer or student writes UMAM as their affiliation, then UMAM will get the credit. Therefore, UMAM gives freedom to lecturers and students when writing their affiliations.
On this occasion, the Rector of UMAM also explained the requirements to be eligible co-supervisor. The first is to have a doctorate degree, and the second is to have at least one publication in a Scopus accredited journal. And once you have enough experience, you can become a standard Malaysian main-supervisor.
