An advanced research and study in architectural current and critical problems concerning technological, scientific and social from the view of Quranic and Sunnah. This program produces graduates with extensive expertise in  Architecture who match the demands of the relevant field and are able to deduce architecture ideas and methods to solve issues in current field concerns and challenges.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)                   
The objectives of the programme are to:


(PEO1)               
Master advanced knowledge of the latest focus areas in Architecture to solve real problems in architecture and the built environment. [PLO1, PLO2, PLO3, PLO8]

(PEO2)               
Integrate Islamic principles and values through creative innovation in the latest focus areas of architecture.             
[ PLO5, PLO6, PLO7]

(PEO3)               
Lead entrepreneurial ventures and projects in Architecture's latest focus areas and demonstrate effective planning, management, and decision-making. [PLO4, PLO10]

(PEO4)               
Possess high accountability and independence in leading lifelong learning in architecture with professionalism and high standards of ethical conduct within Islamic principles and values.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO)                   

PLO 1:             
Apply comprehensive, systematic, integrated, new, complex, and abstract ideas of current critical issues in the advanced frontiers of knowledge in the latest focus areas of Architecture.

PLO 2:             
Elaborately review new, complex, abstract ideas and current critical issues in the most advanced frontiers of knowledge in the latest focus areas of Architecture and other related areas, and modify existing concepts and practices.

PLO 3:             
Formulate appropriate research methods to solve new techniques and solutions to highly complex and emerging problems related to Architecture.

PLO 4:             
Demonstrate effective collaboration with different people in learning and working ethically and professionally with communities, other groups and networks.             
               
PLO 5:             
Compile information, insights, ideas, and problems, and propose solutions cogently/coherently to peers, scholarly community, and society in the latest focus areas of Architecture.

PLO 6:             
Develop new appropriate tools/methodologies to support and enhance research in the latest focus areas of Architecture.

PLO 7:             
Critically formulate numerical and scientific data using quantitative or qualitative problem-solving tools.

PLO 8:             
Construct substantial autonomy, independence, leadership, and professionalism in research management to contribute to the technological, social, and cultural progress of academic and professional practice to the society at large on emerging issues at professional levels.

PLO 9:             
Improve responsibility to integrate knowledge for lifelong learning with developing new ideas, solutions, and systems, and overall management of one’s research organization related to the Architecture field.

PLO10:             
Invent entrepreneurial ventures and projects in the latest focus areas of  Architecture.

PLO11:             
Discuss emerging ethical, legal, and professional issues, their complexities, and implications for advancing research in the fields and professionally maximizing contribution to social, technological, and economic developments.             
 

 

 

First semester:

  • TIA5101 Ethics and Values in Architecture

TIA6999 Doctoral Research (Stage-1)

  • Research Proposal Writing

 

Second semester:

Choose one elective course     

  • TIA5401 Architecture, Theory and Cultural Criticism    
  • TIA5301 Islamic Architecture of the Malay Archipelago
  • TIA5201 Aesthetic in Islamic Architecture

TIA6999 Doctoral Research (Stage-2)

  • Completing research proposal
  • Proposal defend should be approved maximum in one year.

 

Third – Sixth semester:

TIA6999 Doctoral Research (Stage 3 - 6)

  • Thesis Writing
  • Viva-Voce of thesis defend examined by internal and external examiners.
  • Prior to Viva Voce, at least two publications in SCOPUS indexed journal or conference proceedings.
 
Programme Duration (Full Time)
  • 3 years (6 semesters)

     

Entry Requirements
  • Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in Architecture or Building Technology or Architectural Technology or related to Built Environment, OR
  •  Other equivalent/ related qualifications to Master's degree (level 7, MQF) in Architecture or related fields recognised by the Malaysian Government as equivalent to the above requirement.

English Requirement

English Competency Requirement for International Student:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 500, or 
  • International English Language Testing System score of 5.0 or its equivalent, or
  • Achieve a minimum Band 4 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET), or 
  • Any equivalent to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR (B2)

(International Students)

Excluding immigration fees, insurance and dormitory.

Note: 

  1. Student pass fees for international students are subjected to a determination under the Malaysian Immigration Department.
  2. Student insurance fees are subjected to the statutory provisions of the University and local authorities.
  3. Student accommodation fees are determined by university rules and are available upon request.
