The Vice-Chancellor honored Professor at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS)

In a prestigious ceremony held at the Moh Djazman Auditorium, Campus I of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) on Monday, November 27, 2023, Prof. Ir. Waluyo Adi Siswanto, M.Eng., Ph.D., Vice Chancellor of Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), was officially recognized as one of the distinguished professors at UMS. The open session was presided over by UMS Rector, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si., marking a momentous occasion for both institutions.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Waluyo Adi Siswanto presented a thought-provoking speech titled ‘Simulation and Optimization Technology for Improving Manufacturing Product Quality.’ He emphasized the pivotal role of simulation and optimization technologies in the manufacturing industry, particularly during the era of Industry 4.0 and the emergence of civil society 5.0. Highlighting the significance of efficient production processes, he stressed that leveraging advanced technology and digitalization can lead to cost savings and superior outcomes.

The ceremony also honored other distinguished individuals from various faculties. Prof. Dr. Sabar Narimo, M.M., M.Pd., from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), and Prof. Dr. Sri Lestari, S.Psi., M.Si., from the Faculty of Psychology, were also recognized as distinguished professors.

Prof. Sabar Narimo, the 44th Professor at UMS, delivered a profound discourse on ‘Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) in Adipangastuti School’s Hasthalaku Learning.’ Meanwhile, Prof. Sri Lestari, the 46th UMS Professor, presented her speech titled ‘Revitalizing Family Functionality Through the Transmission of Values to Create a Prosperous and Empathetic Generation,’ focusing on the vital role of family values in shaping a thriving and empathetic generation.

The commendation extended beyond the university walls, as Prof. Dr. Bambang Setiaji, Chairman of the Central Education and Research Council of Muhammadiyah, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to UMS for successfully adding these distinguished professors. Prof. Bambang Setiaji also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Muhammadiyah Education Council for UMS’s continuous efforts to enhance human resources, extending special acknowledgment to Prof. Waluyo Adi Siswanto as the leader of UMAM.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Bambang Setiaji issued a heartfelt plea for support from UMS’s leadership, acknowledging the shared history and symbiotic relationship between UMS and UMAM. He emphasized that the success of UMAM, led by Prof. Waluyo Adi Siswanto, is intricately connected to the visionary foundation laid by UMS.
